Our Programs

Addiction treatment can seem complicated at first, with all of the different treatment methods and programs available. At Lighthouse Support Services, we aim to make things straightforward with three distinct programs. In each of them, you’ll continue living at home or otherwise away from our facility and visit for therapy and group counseling.

The key difference between each is the intensity of the program, with the amount of treatment you’ll receive each week. These varying levels of intensity make each program suitable for a different kind of person who’s in recovery. Whether you’re just overcoming your addiction or want low-intensity, long-term support to help you stay on the right path, we have the right option for you.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Partial hospitalization is our most intensive treatment option, with a commitment that ranges from 20 to 30 hours a week. This takes place in five sessions over the course of the week, each taking four to six hours. While this is highly committal, it’s good for people straight out of inpatient rehab or for people who can’t attend inpatient rehab.

You can usually schedule the program to fit around your work hours, although it will end up occupying most of your free time. The intensity of the program means that people typically stay for a month or so, until they’re confident in transitioning to a less intensive program.

  • Very high level of care
  • Typically short duration
  • Modest autonomy
  • May leave patient with enough time for work
  • Suitable as primary treatment method for serious addiction

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Intensive outpatient care is much more flexible than partial hospitalization. While it’s still a sizeable commitment, it drops down to 9-12 hours a week in three or more sessions. You have the option of attending more sessions that each take less time. As a result, IOP leaves you with the autonomy to rebuild your personal and professional life. For moderate addictions that don’t require detox, you can even consider enrolling directly into IOP rather than choosing PHP or inpatient care.

  • High level of care
  • Typically intermediate duration
  • Considerable autonomy
  • Leaves room for work, some recreation
  • Suitable as primary treatment method for moderate addiction
  • Good choice for transition toward independence after either residential or PHP treatment

Outpatient Program (OP)

People typically enter our outpatient program as their last step in the transition back to fully independent life. It’s highly flexible and doesn’t demand a large minimum commitment like the other methods. Standard outpatient treatment is suitable when you’re confident in your recovery, but feel that keeping contact with your addiction treatment support circles is important. The low intensity of outpatient treatment means that people may continue attending a session a week for months or years as their own choice.

  • Moderate level of care
  • Short to long duration
  • High autonomy
  • Easily fits into day to day life
  • Primarily suitable as a follow up to more intense programs
